Dortmund to offer Manchester United target Ilkay Gündoğan a contract extension

Borussia Dortmund are set to offer Ilkay Gündoğan a contract extension until 2019 according to the German newspaper Sport Bild.

The 24-year-old’s contract runs out in July 2016 and Dortmund will be keen to cash in if Gündoğan does not put pen to paper on a new deal.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all expressed an interest in Gündoğan.

According to the Daily Star, United are preparing a €28 million bid for the German international.

The report goes onto state that United will have €210 million to spend in the summer with manager Louis van Gaal wanting to sign a top midfielder.

The hard working midfielder was one of the central figures of the Dortmund side that reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in the 2012-13 season.

Gündoğan has four assists and two goals in 22 appearances for Dortmund this season.
