Emre Can is growing in confidence playing every week says Liverpool manager [divider]

Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers believes that Emre Can is growing in confidence due to getting regular playing time.

“Emre is getting great confidence from playing every week,” Rodgers told the official Liverpool website.

Can has started the last 10 games for Liverpool as a defender, the 21-year-old has featured in the Reds last 11 games in all competitions.

The young midfielder has made a total of 19 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season.

Rodgers also praised his young players following the 2-1 win over Bolton in the FA Cup Fourth Round replay game.

“A lot of these young players are standing up and being counted now, the likes of Emre, young Phil Coutinho and Raheem – these are guys that are playing exceptionally well at the moment,” he added.

Sterling is 20-years-old while Can recently turned 21 and Coutinho turned 22 in the summer.

The Liverpool squad has an average age of 26, making the Reds the fifth youngest team in the league.

Southampton have the youngest team in the league with an average age of 25.

Can joined Liverpool on a £9.75 million move from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer aged 20.
