Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Liverpool in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg tie.

Origi gave the Reds and early lead but Hummels equalised from a header after the half-time break to earn his side a draw.

Jurgen Klopp decided to start with Emre Can in central midfield and the young midfielder put on a hard-working display closing down the opposition and making important challenges.

Can also contributed to attacking moves and made darting runs from deep taking on opposition defenders in fact he made the highest number of dribbles for his side (3) according to Opta.

The 22-year-old’s passing did however, leave a lot to be desired. Can completed just 79 percent of his passes which while not being absolutely awful is below what a player in his position should be achieving and it did result in possession being dispossessed on a few occasions.

Overall Can did put in a decent display and made no serious errors while contributing to defence and attack.

The Germany international of Turkish origin is expected to start for the Reds against Dortmund at Anfield in the return leg next week.
