“He’s a wonderful footballer; two-footed, got great balance and good aggression in his game,” Rodgers told the official Liverpool website.
“He’s multi-functional – he will prove to be a player that can play in a number of positions very well here. As you have seen since he has come in, he has been outstanding.”
Can has played as a central midfielder, a defender, a right-back and a wide midfielder since joining Liverpool on a £9.75 million move from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
The 21-year-old started as a defender in Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Sunderland last weekend and was played as a midfielder and in a wide midfield position at later stages in the game.
The versatile midfielder has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season.
