Everton Transfer News: ‘He Deserved A Big Transfer Like This’ – Sports Minister Makes Statement On Cenk Tosun

Turkish sports minister Osman Askin Bak has revealed his thoughts on Cenk Tosun’s reported transfer to Everton.

Bak stated that Tosun was deserving of a major transfer and that he hopes the Besiktas star will represent his country to the best of his ability in England.

“Cenk Tosun earned himself a big transfer on the back of his league and Champions League form,” Bak said.

“He deserved a big transfer like this.

“We need more players like Cenk.

“I am proud of him and Besiktas, I wish him all the best, god willing he will represent our country abroad to the best of his ability.”

The Guardian reported that Everton have beat off competition from several Premier League sides to agree a deal for Besiktas striker Tosun.

The Toffees have reportedly struck a £25m deal with Besiktas to sign the Turkish international.

The 26-year-old is expected to sign a four-and-a-half year deal with the Premier League outfit.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed interest in Tosun and underlined that signing a striker is a priority.

“We are interested in him [Cenk Tosun] and many others,” Allardyce said during his press conference ahead of Everton’s trip to 18th-place Bournemouth,” Allardyce told reporters.

“We need a front man if we can find one. We will be actively looking for a front man in this window.

“I need more goals in the side than what we have at the moment.

“If we are to just maintain our position because we have started to struggle to create chances and score goals in recent matches.

“It is still one of the major problems that we have.”

Tosun has scored 14 goals and has three assists in all competitions Besiktas this season.

The powerful striker has four goals and two assists in the Champions League and picked up the goal of the group stage award for the second successive season.

Tosun will become the sole Turkish international player in the Premier League should he complete the move.
