Ex Man Utd striker Van Persie believes Turkey will drop points in final games

Fenerbahçe striker Robin van Persie believes that Turkey will drop points in their final Euro 2016 Group A qualification games against Czech Republic and Iceland.

Turkey will of course have to drop points if the Netherlands are to stand any chance of even making the playoff stages.

The Dutch are currently fourth in Group A, two points behind third place Turkey and are unable to catch second place Czech Republic or leaders Iceland.

Van Persie was quoted by the Milliyet as saying: “Don’t ask me why but I am certain the Turks will drop points in their last games so it will be down to us to win.”

The Netherlands lost both of their last games against Iceland and Turkey. The Crescent-Stars beat the Dutch side 3-0 at the Konya Torku Arena to overtake them and move into third.

Van Persie joined Fenerbahçe on a three-year deal from Manchester United over the summer. The experienced striker has struggled for a regular starting spot in the team but already has four goals for the Yellow Canaries this season.
