Former England international Paul Merson expects Liverpool to blow Southampton away

Former England international Paul Merson has revealed his prediction for Liverpool’s clash with Southampton.

Liverpool host Southampton at Anfield on Sunday, kickoff is scheduled for 13:30 (GMT).

Jurgen Klopp’s side recorded a 1-0 victory over Watford on Monday night. Emre Can scored the games only goal via a perfectly executed overhead kick. The Germany international was named as man of the match and may have scored the goal of the season.

The Reds sit in third place in the Premier League with 69 points after 35 games. Liverpool are three points ahead of fourth placed Man City however, City do have a game in hand.

Paul Merson believes Liverpool will record a comfortable win over Southampton this weekend. The former Arsenal midfielder stated that the Saints are already in holiday mode and that it is a perfect fixture for the Reds.

“The race for the top four is back in Liverpool’s hands and that’s all you can ask for at this stage of the season. I expect them to win this game easily,” Paul Merson told SkySports.

“Southampton are another team that are on holiday so I’m expecting a comfortable afternoon for Jurgen Klopp’s side.”
