Former Manchester City and Antalyaspor midfielder Samir Nasri is understood to be on the verge of joining Italian side Benevento.

Benevento currently sit at the bottom of the Serie A table and face an uphill struggle if they are to remain in the Italian top-flight.

According to the Turkish outlet Fotospor, Nasri is in talks with Benevento and is expected to join the Italian club in the near future.

Nasri’s contract with Antalyaspor was terminated just six months after he joined from Manchester City. The playmaker failed to impress following his move and managed to score just two goals in eight league games.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail recently linked West Ham United with a move for the France international. Nasri spent last season on loan at La Liga giants Valencia.

Benevento have managed just two wins and a draw in 23 Serie A games so far this season. The Italian minnows face an uphill task this weekend when they travel to the capital to face AS Roma.
