Galatasaray extend Felipe Melo contract

Chelsea transfer news

Galatasaray have extended the contract of Felipe Melo by two-seasons according to NTV Spor.

The former Brazil international had been closely linked with a move to Inter Milan over the summer transfer window but has opted the stay in Istanbul.

Former Galatasaray boss Roberto Mancini was keen on bringing Melo to Inter according to the Turkish media but the experienced midfielder will remain for at least another season.

The 32-year-old joined the Istanbul giants on a permanent deal from Juventus worth £3 million last summer after playing the previous two seasons on loan at the Lions.

Galatasaray won the league title for the 20th time last season and secured a place in the Champions League group stages.

The former Brazil international has won a total of three Süper Lig titles and two Turkish Cup titles during his time in Turkey.

Melo provided one assist and scored two goals in 34 appearances for Galatasaray last season.
