French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon have completed the signing of Rafael da Silva from Manchester United according to Sky Sports.
The report goes onto state that the Brazilian international has joined Lyon on a four-year deal for a €2.5 million transfer fee.
Lyon announced the transfer on their official website after the 25-year-old underwent a medical.
The statement reads, “Olympique Lyonnais informs of an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Brazilian international Rafael Da Silva, who will sign in the coming days a four-year contract with OL, ie until June 30, 2019.”
Rafael was left out of United’s tour of the USA and has fallen down the pecking order following the Red Devils signing of Matteo Darmian. The attacking right-back joined United in 2008 from the Brazilian side Fluminense.
The 25-year-old provided one assist and scored one goal in 17 appearances for the Manchester United last season. Rafael’s twin brother Fabio departed United in January 2014 to join the Championship side Cardiff City.
Galatasaray were closely linked with Rafael and had entered talks with the United full-back earlier in the summer.
