Galatasaray were the better side against Arsenal in the second half according to manager Hamza Hamzaoğlu.
The Lions boss spoke to reporters following the heavy 4-1 defeat against Arsenal.
“We conceded an early goal which upset our balance and led to us not playing well,” Hamzaoğlu said.
“In the second half we played better and became the dominant team but we struggled to find the all important goal and make our comeback.
“Although we lost, the display in the second half makes us hopeful. I am pleased with my players and thank the fans who came to support us.
“We need to develop our current players and strengthen some positions but to be honest there were some players who played better than I would have expected.
“Now we have to move on, we were out of the Champions League anyway, now we must win the league and Turkish Cup we cannot let the fans down anymore.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger rested most of his first team players and gave several youths a chance in the second half.
Galatasaray suffered their worst ever Champions League campaign, only securing one point from six games.
Hamza Hamzaoğlu replaced former manager Cesare Prandelli following a string of poor results.
The 4-1 loss against Arsenal was Hamzaoğlu’s first defeat in charge of Galatasaray.
