Borussia Dortmund have been handed a major boost following Ilkay Gundogan’s return to first team training.
The 25-year-old has not featured for Dortmund due to a foot injury for over a month.
Gundogan took part in a training session with Thomas Tuchel’s team two days ahead of their clash with Liverpool at the Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund skipper Mats Hummels and centre back Sokratis Papastathopoulos also returned to training wit after sitting out Saturday’s win over Werder Bremen.
Gundogan has been closely linked with Liverpool according to the Daily Star newspaper.
The Reds will however, face competition from Manchester City whose sporting director Txiki Begiristain has already met with Gundogan’s uncle and agent Ilhan Gundogan regarding a summer deal.
Dortmund go into the game in great form having won 15 of their 17 games in 2016 – drawing the other two.
Ilkay Gundogan has seven assists and three goals in 36 appearances for Dortmund this season.
