‘I spoke to Valverde, Arsenal made an offer’ – Gunners bid for Barcelona star confirmed
Arsenal made an offer for Barcelona star an offer according to Turkey national team boss Mircea Lucescu.
The Gunners were on the verge of signing the Turkish international but the deal fell through.
Lucescu spoke to Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde about the experienced winger and shared a summary of his conversation on TRT Spor.
“I spoke to Valverde, Arsenal made Arda an offer,” Lucescu said.
“Arda was on the verge of joining Arsenal this summer but it did not go through.”
Lucescu also revealed that Galatasaray and Monaco have been in the race for Turan.
“Galatasaray wanted him but it did not happen, same with Monaco,” he added.
“Arda is going through a tough time.”
Turan has struggled for playing time at Barcelona this season.
The 30-year-old has yet to make a single appearance in all competitions for the La Liga leaders.
Turan joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in 2015 and has won every domestic trophy in Spain as well as Turkey.
The experienced winger has also lifted the Europa League, European Super Cup and was part of the Atletico Madrid side that reached the Champions League final.
Turan is under no rush to make a decision over this future as he does have another three-years remaining on his current Barcelona contract.
