Italian giants on verge of hijacking Arsenal & Liverpool move for defender after striking £10.5m deal

AC Milan are on the verge of signing Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer according to reports in Turkey.

Fanatik claim that the Italian giants have struck a £10.5 million [€12m] million deal with the Yellow Canaries.

Per the source, the Serie A outfit have already agreed personal terms with Kjaer following talks with his agent Mikkel Beck.

Kjaer is expected to complete his move after returning from holiday.

The Denmark international has had no shortage of interest.

Arsenal and Liverpool were both closely linked with the powerful centre-back.

Kjaer has been on Liverpool’s radar since pulling out talks to sign Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk according to Turkish-Football.

The Gunners meanwhile were reported to have made a £10.5 million offer last month according to Fotomac.

The bid was turned down as it did not match the Canaries £17.5 million valuation.

The fact that Fenerbahce have turned down a similar offer to the one made by AC Milan does raise doubts about the transfer fee being quoted in the Turkish press.

Fenerbahce are being monitored by Financial Fair Play (FFP) and must sell high value players to stay within budget this summer.

The Yellow Canaries rivals Galatasaray were suspended from European competition last season as a result of their spending.

Kjaer does have two-years remaining on his contract and the Istanbul giants have been keen to hold out for the best price.
