Lazar Markovic expected to escape Liverpool summer clear-out

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is expected to escape the summer clear-out at the club according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is planning to get rid of several first-team players as he gets to work on restructuring the squad but Markovic is expected to keep his place in the team.

Markovic is currently on-loan at Fenerbahce and has established himself as a first team regular although he has missed the last few weeks due to injury.

The Serbian international remains one of the most intriguing transfers from the Brendan Rodgers era at Liverpool. After being signed from Benfica for £17.5 million he was played out of position and later dropped.

“I had no problem with Brendan Rodgers and we had a bond until for some reason that remains a mystery to me he changed,” Markovic told the Fenerbahce Magazine.

Markovic is however, well settled in Istanbul and the Yellow Canaries are expected to make an offer for the 21-year-old winger in the summer.

Fenerbahce are currently first in the Super League, competing in the Turkish Cup and recently reached the Europa League Last 16 where they will face FC Braga.
