27 goal Leeds United striker nears move to Turkish giants

Leeds United striker Chris Wood is nearing a move to Super Lig champions Besiktas according to reports in Turkey.

Turkish outlet Fotomac report that Besiktas are on the hunt for a new striker following the departure of Vincent Aboubakar.

Per the source, Leeds striker Chris Wood is on the Besiktas’ transfer shortlist. Furthermore, the report states that the Black Eagles have held early talks with the powerful striker.

Besiktas scouts have been monitoring Wood for several weeks and relayed back a positive report to the clubs management.

Besiktas boss Senol Gunes has also given the green light for the transfer to go ahead.

Following the departure of Aboubakar, manager Senol Gunes is understood to be keen on signing a target man forward.

Wood appears to fit the bill perfectly standing in at 1.91 metres.

The New Zealand international scored an impressive 27 goals in 44 Championship appearances for Leeds United last season.

The report goes onto state that Wood could be available for €6 million.

The Istanbul giants would be able to offer the forward Champions League football next season if the deal were to go ahead.
