Liverpool midfieler-come-defender Emre Can has come out in praise of managerial candidate Jurgen Klopp.
Can stated that Klopp is a manager that has proven himself and that the German manager is capable of coaching at club in the world.
Speaking to Die Welt before former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers’ departure, Can said: “Jurgen Klopp is certainly a great coach. I think that he’s proven in Dortmund that he could fit in at any club in the world.”
Can has never worked under the stewardship of Klopp despite starting his career in the Bundesliga at Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen before his switch to Liverpool in last summer.
Rodgers was sacked following the 1-1 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Former Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp is currently favourite to take over Rodgers but Carlo Ancelotti has been linked with the vacant position.
The Reds are currently 10th in the Premier League on 12 points after eight games this season. Liverpool are hoping to appoint their new manager before the end of the international break.
