Liverpool target missed Barcelona game against Betis

Liverpool and Besiktas target Thomas Vermaelen missed this weekends clash between Barcelona and Betis.

The Belgium international has been the subject of a ‘former offer’ from the Red’s according the the Independent newspaper.

Besiktas have already held early talks with the Barcelona over the transfer of Vermaelen according to the Fanatik newspaper. The Black Eagles are looking to sign the former Arsenal man on a season long loan.

Vermaelen missed this weekends clash due to a long standing injury which has kept him out of the majority of the season.

The former Arsenal captain has struggled with injuries and has made just 11 La Liga appearances during his time at the Nou Camp.

Besiktas at the top of the Premier League and are currently three points ahead of their Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce. Liverpool succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Swansea this weekend and take on Villarreal in the Europa League on Thursday.
