Liverpool U21’s beat Tottenham U21’s 3-1 at White Hart Lane on Friday.

Reds U21 boss Michael Beale revealed he was delighted with Samed Yeşil’s performance.

Yeşil only recently recovered from a double cruciate ligament injury that has seen him spend most of the season on the sidelines.

“It was great to see him after the game with a big smile on his face. He has worked so hard to get back to full fitness and his sharpness is coming back,” Beale told the Liverpool Echo.

Yeşil bagged his brace four minutes into the second half and Spurs midfielder Will Miller got his name on the scoresheet for a late consolation goal.

The goals were Yeşil’s first since recovering from injury.

The 20-year-old striker now has three goals in seven U21 appearances this season.
