Liverpool’s Emre Can: ‘My favourite position is central midfield and the manager knows that’
[divider]Emre Can has revealed that his favourite position is central midfield but is happy to play at centre back for Liverpool.
The Germany U20 international has come under fire following his performance against Chelsea in the Carlin Cup semi final.
“It has always been the case that I have played in different positions,” Germany Under-21 said in an interview with Liverpool’s official website.
“It’s an advantage for the team to have a player like that and it’s an advantage for me personally as well. If I am needed in central defence, that is where I will play.
“My favourite position is central midfield and the manager knows that, but if I get a chance to play and help the team I will happily play at the back.

The 21-year-old has played as a defender since first being deployed in the Liverpool back-line against Burnley on Boxing Day.
Can has played the last seven games in defence despite his strongest position being in central midfield.
The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has made 16 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season.
Can was born in Germany but can represent either his country of birth of Turkey at international level due to being of Turkish heritage.
