‘Man City wanted very high figures’ – Club chief reveals difficulty in signing Samir Nasri for free

Turkish minnows Antalyaspor pulled off one of the coups of the summer transfer window when they signed Samir Nasri from Manchester City.

The France international joined Samuel Eto’o at the costal city in southern Turkey. The transfer came as a huge surprise to fans in Turkey and Manchester City supporters.

Nasri was one of City’s highest-paid players prior to the move which lead to difficulties in selling the player. The 30-year-old eventually made the move to Antalyaspor for free.

Antalyaspor representative George Gardi oversaw Nasri’s move from Man City to Antalyaspor and spoke to the Italian outlet Transfer Merato Web about the deal.

“Nasri was a very difficult task. He had another two years on his contract at Manchester City and they wanted very high figures, starting by requesting over €10million for him,” Gardi told TMW

“The first time I proposed the player to the president, he told me not to disturb him and come back when I was in the real world.”

Nasri has made two appearances for Antalyaspor so far this season and has already registered a goal.
