Turkey international star Arda Turan has revealed that he wants to stay at Barcelona next season despite rumours linking him with a Premier League move.
“I want to stay at Barcelona but now I am focused on the game against Spain,” Turan said speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Spain game.
Turan also stated that he needs to improve his game for the La Liga champions next season especially defensively.
“I have to improve defensively for Barcelona but they play a different style here for the Turkish national team so I have to be flexible,” he added.
The Daily Star report that Turan is top of Jose Mourinho’s transfer shortlist and AS claim that Arsenal are also considering a bid.
The bearded winger has also been closely linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea according to the Express.
Turan has been linked with a move away from Barcelona according to reports from both Spain and England but the Turkish international has rejected all claims.
“There have been no offers from China he is just concentrating on the Turkish national team and after the Euro’s will return to Barcelona for pre-season,” he told Marca.
The 29-year-old was however, close to signing for a Premier League side last summer according to his agent Ahmet Bulut.
“Last season Manchester United made a bid for Arda but Atletico Madrid did not want him to leave,” Ahmet Bulut told AMK (via Goal).
“I was in talks with Barcelona but told nobody about it at the time.”
Turan is currently on international duty with the Turkish national team and will captain his side against Spain in the second round of Euro 2016 games.
The Barca winger joined the club on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid last season but missed the first six-months of the season due to the FIFA transfer ban.
