Manchester United failed to sign Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window. The Turkish international subsequently joined Barcelona shortly after.
Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut confirmed that the Red Devil’s made an offer for the 28-year-old however, Atletico Madrid turned it down.
“Last season Manchester United made a bid for Arda but Atletico Madrid did not want him to leave,” Ahmet Bulut told AMK
“I was in talks with Barcelona but told nobody about it at the time.”
Turan joined Barcelona on a five-year deal despite knowing that he would have to sit on the sidelines for six months as the reigning Champions League champions had been hit with a FIFA transfer ban.
The former Galatasaray midfielder has years of experience playing in the La Liga and has lifted every domestic title in Spain as well as the Europa League and European Super Cup.
Turan also played a key role in Turkey booking a place in the European Championships after maintaining an 11 game unbeaten run.
