Man Utd news: Former Arsenal star reveals prediction for Manchester United vs Manchester City derby

Manchester United will host their biter rival’s Manchester City at Old Trafford this weekend as they look to maintain their winning run of form.

Jose Mourinho’s side recorded a 3-1 win over their rivals Arsenal last weekend to keep up the pace with City. The Red Devils have the opportunity to slash the point gap between themselves and the league leaders down to five.

The clash takes place on Sunday afternoon with kick-off scheduled for 16:30 (GMT).

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has revealed his prediction for the weekend clash. The SkySports pundit believes the suspended Paul Pogba will be a big miss for United.

However, Merson went onto state that he predicts the Red Devils will avoid defeat and hold City to 2-2 draw.

“United have to win, now they have beaten Arsenal,” Merson explained to Sky Sports.

“If they had drawn at Arsenal, a win over City would still leave them too far back.

“Now United have had two massive results at Watford and Arsenal, they actually have to take the game to City now.

“These are the games you look forward to all week, but often these games disappoint.

“This one will be different though. Jose Mourinho is a master in these big games at setting up to contain the opposition, but they really have to have a go on Sunday.

“Paul Pogba will be a big miss, and if he was playing, then I would go for United, but they will have enough not to get beaten.

“City are chasing records, so will also have a go. I can’t wait.”

Germany international of Turkish decent Mesut Ozil is expected to start on Sunday following an impressive run of form. The 29-year-old was rested for Arsenal’s 6-0 win over BATE Borisov.
