Borussia Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc has stated that Ilkay Gundogan is in a state of shock following an injury he suffered during mid-week training.
The 25-year-old has been ruled out of the rest of the season and Euro 2016 after dislocating his knee.
“Ilkay is currently still in shock. How things go with him, we will have to wait and see.” Zorc replied when asked about Gundogan’s future at the club.
Gundogan has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga giants however, his latest injury may have put a move to the Premier League in jeopardy. Gundogan’s fitness has been under the spotlight after the 25-year-old missed a year of football due to a back injury.
The Germany international looked set to be Pep Guardiola’s first signing era after Man City sporting director Txiki Begiristain met with Gundogan’s uncle and agent in Amsterdam back in March.
Arsenal are also interested in the 25-year-old according to the Daily Mail newspaper.
