Manchester United are in pole position to snap up Borussia Dortmund’s deep-lying-playmaker Ilkay Gündoğan according to the Daily Star.
The tabloid claims that following Bayern Munich’s decision to withdraw from negotiations, United are close to completing the transfer.
The report goes onto state that Bayern pulled out of negotiations due to Gündoğan’s excessive wage demands.
Daily Star also claim that United are interested in signing the Germany skipper Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich.

Barcelona are also believed to be close to reaching a deal with Gündoğan. The Germany international traveled to Barcelona on Monday according to a report in the German newspaper Bild and also passed a medical for the La Liga giants according to Mundo Deportivo.
Gündoğan has five assists and three goals in 32 appearances for Dortmund despite spending much of the season out injured.
