Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has set his sights on signing Besiktas star midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup, according to a report in the Daily Star.
The report states that the Red Devils are preparing a £20 million move for the Turkey international.
Besiktas President Fikret Orman poured fuel onto the fire when he talked up a move for Ozyakup to Old Trafford.
“When Ozyakup leaves Besiktas it will be for Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. A club of that calibre,” Orman was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
Ozyakup is no stranger to English football having played for Arsenal before. The in-demand playmaker joined Arsenal’s academy from AZ back in 2008.
The 23-year-old made his Arsenal debut in 2011 in a League Cup clash however, he didn’t make a single Premier League appearance for the north London based club. Ozyakup subsequently left Arsenal for Besiktas for just £350,000.
The Turkey international scored 10 times and setup eight goals for the Super Lig champions in all competitions last season.
