Mark Lawrenson reveals prediction for Watford v Liverpool clash

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has tipped his former club to return to winning ways this weekend.

The Reds travel down south to take on an out-of-form Watford FC. The ‘Hornets’ come into the clash with five defeats in their last six games.

However, Walter Mazzarri’s side have been strong at Vicarage Road. Watford have recorded three wins in a row at home and sit comfortably in 10th place in the league.

Liverpool meanwhile suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at home at the hands of Crystal Palace last weekend.

The Reds remain in third place but have played more games than both Man City and Man United who are in close pursuit.

Lawrenson told the BBC that he believes Liverpool will record a 2-1 victory over Watford this weekend.

“Liverpool got battered 3-0 when they went to Vicarage Road last season, after conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes,” Lawrenson told the BBC.

“I just don’t see that happening on Monday, especially if Watford play like they did when they lost 2-0 at 10-man Hull last time out.

“The Hornets are back at home, but this still looks like a winnable fixture for Liverpool – although I thought the same about their last game against Crystal Palace.”

Germany international Emre Can is available for selection. The 22-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular in recent weeks.

Can has three assists and four goals in 36 apperances for Liverpool so far this season.
