Marseille to rivals Liverpool in race for £10m defender, Reds already in talks with Denmark international
Marseille have stepped up their efforts to sign Fenerbahce’s in-demand defender Simon Kjaer.
The Turkish outlet Futbol Arena have reported that Marseille boss Rudi Garcia has placed Kjear at the top of his transfer shortlist.
Garcia previously worked alongside Kjear at Lille and Roma.
The report claims that Kjaer’s agent Mikkel Beck was recently spotted at the Marseille grounds.
Per the source, Ligue 1 giants Lyon are also in the race to sign the Denmark international.
Marseille will however face competition from Liverpool. According to AMK, The Reds have held talks with Beck. AMK go onto state that Liverpool have set aside £10 million for the in-demand defender.

Kjear has been a huge hit at Fenerbahce since joining from Lille back in 2015.
The Istanbul giants may however be forced into offloaded some of their star names this summer in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play rules.
The Denmark internation has two-years remaining on his current contract with Liverpool.
Kjear has provided one assist and scored three goals in 41 appearances for Fenerbahce in this season.
