Max Kruse joined Fenerbahce from Werder Bremen on a free transfer last month signing a three-year deal with the Super Lig outfit.
Kruse was linked with a move to Liverpool before joining the Yellow Canaries.
Turkish-Football revealed that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp called Kruse before the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.
Klopp wanted Kruse as a rotation play to add depth to the attack.
Fenerbahce meanwhile promised the German international a star role in the team. The 30-year-old is almost certain to be a first choice player for the Yellow Canaries next term.
Kruse has now confirmed that the Reds did indeed make him an offer before joining Fenerbahce.
“I had lots of offers, Liverpool were one of these sides,” Kruse said in an interview with beIN Turkey.
“I picked Fenerbahce as I had this feeling that Fenerbahce are the next step for me.
“Fenerbahce had an attractive project for me.”
Kruse left Werder Bremen after three successful years at the club as a free agent at the end of last term.
The German scored 11 times and provided nine assists in 32 appearances last season.
Fenerbahce take on Bayern Munich next in the Audi Cup as part of their pre-season campaign.
