Mesut Ozil has proved his critics wrong says Arsenal boss Mesut Ozil

Arsene Wenger

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that Mesut Ozil has proved his doubters wrong following his performances this season.

The experienced manager went onto say that Ozil has impressed him this season and that he is an ‘exceptional player’.

“He’s an exceptional player and gave the ball for the first goal,” Wenger was quoted as saying by TalkSport.

“I believe I faced some press conferences where people were being sceptical about him but he has grown and has a real stature now.

“It’s very impressive what he is doing.”

Ozil provided his 12th assist for the season for Arsenal’s opening goal against Sunderland on the weekend.

The 27-year-old playmaker received a rating of 8.5 from WhoScored making him the man of the match made five key passes and took 122 touches on the ball during the game.

Arsenal sit in second place in the Premier League with 30 points after 15 games and take on Olympiakos in the UEFA Champions League tomorrow.

Wenger’s side need to beat the Greek Super League side by at least two goals in order to qualify. Ozil has scored four goals and provided 12 assists in 20 appearances for Arsenal this season.
