Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger showered Mesut Ozil with praise following the Germany international’s masterclass against Bournemouth.
The 27-year-old provided the assist for the Gunners opening goal and secured all three points when he found the back of the net for his sides second.
Wenger spoke about the playmaker during the post-match press conference.
“I have seen a few good games from Ozil but what’s important is that he’s not only a talented player but ready to work very hard from the team,” Wenger stated at the press conference.
“He’s added goals to the assists and overall he’s a complete player.
“I’ve not seen many of that quality. I don’t like to compare players but he’s an exceptional player. I’ve always defended that point of view, even when you [journalists] were sceptical about it.”
Ozil provided his 16th assist of the season in the win over Bournemouth and scored his fifth league goal.
The former Real Madrid man has provided the highest number of assists in the league – 16 in 17 games – in fact no other player in Europe’s top five leagues – France, Spain, Germany, Italy and England – have provided more.
Arsenal have ended the week on top of the table following Leicester City’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City. The Gunners take on Newcastle United this weekend.
