Özil carried out a total of 89 passes at a 93 percent accuracy and was given a 7.23 rating on Whoscored.
The draw ensured league safety for the Black Cats but meant Arsenal will not be able to overtake second placed Manchester City in the league table.
Arsenal have now failed to score in three consecutive Premier League matches at home for the first time since February 2009.
The Gunners will finish the league in third place with a win in their final game however, if they lose Manchester United could overtake the North London based club.
Özil has been in good form since returning from injury winning two Vitality Arsenal Player of the Month as well as a PFA Fans Player of the Month awards.
The 26-year-old has covered more distance, scored more goals, provided more assists and improved his sprinting since returning from injury at the start of 2015 according to the official Premier League website.
