Newcastle to table improved offer for in-form international winger Garry Rodrigues in January

Newcastle United haven’t given up hopes of signing the Cape Verde international Garry Rodrigues.

The Magpies tabled a £6 million bid for Rodrigues over the summer however, Galatasaray turned down the offer.

A source close to the Istanbul based club has told Turkish-Football that Newcastle United have been in regular contact with Galatasaray over Rodrigues.

Per the source, Galatasaray are expecting to receive an improved offer in January.

However, Rodrigues is an established member of Galatasaray’s starting eleven. The Istanbul giants are unlikely to offload any of their key names mid-way though the season.

Netherlands-born Cape Verde international – who joined the Lions for £3.5 million – has four-years remaining on his contract with Galatasaray.

Newcastle United held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw Premier League fixture and face Crystal Palace this weekend.

Galatasaray meanwhile will be looking to maintain their winning run when they take on their biter rivals Fenerbahce in the Intercontinental Derby.
