Newcastle transfer news: Magpies had £6m bid rejected for international winger
Newcastle had a pretty disappointing summer transfer window by all accounts and the latest report from Turkey will only add to fans frustration.
Turkish outlet Hurriyet have claimed that the Magpies came close to signing Cape Verde international winger Gary Rodrigues. Per the source, Newcastle united tabled a £6 million bid for the winger.
Galatasaray signed Rodrigues from PAOK FC last summer for approximately £3 million.
Hurriyet goes onto state that Galatasaray rejected the bid from Newcastle following a discussion with manager Igor Tudor.
Rodrigues has represented the Cape Verde national team 24 times. The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for Galatasaray this season.

The Lions recorded three wins in three games and sit at the top of the Turkish Super League.
Newcastle meanwhile have already suffered two defeats this season but did manage to record a win over West Ham United. The Magpies take on Swansea City when the Premier League returns on September 10.
