Nigeria international Emmanuel Emenike has revealed that he loves Fenerbahçe and that he will not let the latest armed attack on the team bus push him away from the club.

“I have a contract here and I love the club,” Emenike told the BBC.

“It’s only an isolated incident and not enough to make me look for an easy way out. I have put the past behind me and I am only focussing on what lies ahead. I am stronger now than before.”

The driver was shot with a rifle however, the rest of the team and staff were unharmed.

The driver was rushed into hospital after the incident but his situation is now reported to be stable.

Emenike has scored only four goals in 23 league appearances this season and has come under fire from sections of the press and fans.

Fenerbahçe temporarily moved into first place in the Süper Lig following their 5-1 win over Rizespor however, Galatasaray overtook their rivals after beating Karabükspor 3-1.
