Besiktas’s Mario Gomez has also been included in Joachim Low’s team after starting on the bench for his sides opening two games.
However, Liverpool’s Emre Can has once again failed to break into the starting line-up and is yet to feature in this summers competition.
Germany take on Norther Ireland in their final group stage game tonight as they look to cement top spot.
Joachim Low’s side recorded a win over Ukraine and a scoreless draw with Poland in their opening two games.
Mesut Ozil started both encounters and played the full 90 minutes. The 27-year-old provided an assist for Germany’s second goal against Ukraine.
Ozil is one of eight Germany born ethnic Turks in the tournament. Can is the other Germany international of Turkish origin while Turkey has six Germany born players.
