On-loan Liverpool winger missed Fenerbahçe’s Europa League clash against Lokomotiv Moscow due to injury and was expected to miss the Istanbul derby on the weekend but has managed to recover quicker than expected.

The 21-year-old has returned to training and faces a race against time to reach match fitness in time for the top of the table clash against rivals Beşiktaş.

The Black Eagles are currently first in the Super League one point clear of Fenerbahçe but they also have a game in hand. Beşiktaş could go as much as seven points clear should they beat the Yellow Canaries and win their Trabzonspor clash that was postponed due to heavy snow last month.

Fenerbahçe are however, undefeated at Sukru Saracoglu this season and have the best home record in the league.

Markovic joined Fenerbahce on-loan over the summer and has established himself as a first team regular and fan favourite at the club with reports suggesting that he could even stay in Turkey.

The Serbian international has two goals and three assists in all competitions this season for the Yellow Canaries.
