On-loan Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has failed to recover in time for the Istanbul derby against Beşiktaş.

The Fenerbahçe star has returned to training but will not be available for the clash against the Black Eagles at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium this evening.

The derby will see first placed Beşiktaş take on second placed Fenerbahçe. A victory for the away side would see them move four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Fenerbahçe will move two point clear of Beşiktaş with a win but the Eagles would still move ahead of the Yellow Canaries if they win their game in hand against Trabzonspor which was postponed due to heavy snowfall.

The 21-year-old joined Fenerbahce on-loan over the summer and has established himself as a first team regular and fan favourite at the club with reports suggesting that he could even stay in Turkey.

The Serbian international has two goals and three assists in all competitions this season for the Yellow Canaries.
