Antalyaspor star Samuel Eto’o congratulated Barcelona star Lionel Messi after he picked up his record fifth Ballon D’or award.
Eto’o who attended the Ballon D’or bash and presented the awards for the team of the year probably should have won an award himself for donning a leather tuxedo but alas there were no prizes on offer for best dress.
The Cameroon international took to Instagram to congratulate Messi and wrote a touching message alongside a picture hugging the Barcelona legend which read: “Congratulations again to you my brother Leo Messi, on winning this Ballon d’Or 2015. I am not surprised by this outcome, you truly deserve it. Keep up the good work and continue to shine through your talent and humility. #WorldClass.”
Barcelona won the Champions League beating Juventus in the final. The Spanish giants won a total of five trophies in 2015 including the La Liga and World Club Cup.
Eto’o did of course used to play for Barcelona – with Messi – and won just about every title in domestic and European football at the club.
The experienced striker also attached a caption of the best team of the world 2015 alongside the one of Messi and wrote another heart felt caption which this time read: “Congratulations as well to the 2015 FIFA FIFPro World XI: Manuel Neuer, Marcelo, Thiago Silva, Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves, Andrés Iniesta, Luka Modrić, Paul Pogba, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. It was such a pleasure seeing you all and presenting you with these awards. You guys are the best. #DreamTeam Encore félicitations à toi mon frère Leo Messi, pour l’obtention du Ballon d’Or 2015. Cette nouvelle consécration ne me surprend pas, tu la mérites amplement. Continue à briller à travers ton talent et ton humilité. #WorldClass'”
