Lukas Podolski is perhaps one of the most active social media using footballers going and he was not about to let Germany national teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger’s birthday go unannounced.
Podolski took to Instagram to share a picture biting a World Cup medal with Schweinsteiger alongside the caption: “Happy birthday my friend we’re still young… #happybirthday #basti #friends #worldchampions.”
Schweinsteiger turned 31 yesterday and is just a year older than Podolski. Both players were part of the Germany side that won the 2014 World Cup on Brazil last season.
The duo both made moves this summer. Schweinsteiger joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich while Podolski signed for Turkish giants Galatasaray from Arsenal.
Podolski was joined by fellow Premier League stars Nani and Robin van Persie in making the move to Turkey over the transfer window.
Galatasaray won the league title for a record 20th time last season and will become the first Turkish club to wear the fourth star on their crest this season.
The Lions also booked a place in the Champions League group stages for the fourth consecutive season.
