Reds legend Mark Lawrenson reveals prediction for Liverpool v Arsenal clash

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has predicted a score-draw for today’s clash between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger’s side will be looking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke City last weekend. Star playmaker Mesut Ozil came in for major criticism following the game from Martin Keown.

Liverpool meanwhile have recorded three victories in a row. Jurgen Klopp’s side booked a spot in the UEFA Champions League group stages following a 4-2 win over Hoffenheim on Wednesday night.

Lawrenson questioned Arsenal’s defence during his preview however, predicted a 1-1 draw.

“Liverpool face an Arsenal team that still has more questions than answers about it,” Lawrenson told the BBC.

“They were fortunate to beat Leicester and, against Stoke, while they can have a moan about some of the decisions, it exposed that familiar soft underbelly.

“You can play all the nice football in the world but if you can’t deal with the humdrum aspects of football you will be susceptible to results like that.”

“The problem for the Gunners is that every time they lose you are waiting for the ‘Wenger out’ to start.”

Liverpool recorded a 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the same fixture back in March. The Gunners will need to keep a close eye on Sadio Mane. The Senegal international has been involved in five goals in his five previous Premier League starts against Arsenal.

Meanwhile Arsenal will be boosted by the return of Chile international Alexis Sanchez.
