Everton had been scouting Tosun since his UEFA Goal of the Group stage in the Champions League victory over Porto on Match Day 1.

Football agent Ceylan Caliskan – who brokered the deal – said: “The first time Everton watched Cenk was on 13 September when Besiktas beat Porto 3-1.

“They also watched the Finland – Turkey game and the Champions League match against Monaco.

“Cenk scored in each of these games but as he kept scoring interest kept increasing.

“By this time six Premier League clubs wanted Cenk, they were regularly scouting him.

“Steve Walsh was first to watch Cenk, he informed Sam Allardyce who was impressed.

“Allardyce was really keen on the move and made sure it happened.”

Tosun ended up scoring four goals and providing two assists in Group G, helping Besiktas become the first Turkish side to qualify for the Last 16 as group leaders.

The striker turned down the chance to face Bayern Munich in the second-round to join Everton.

The Turkey international left Besiktas having won back to back league titles.

The 26-year-old is expected to make his debut at Wembley against Tottenham on Saturday in the Premier League.

Everton are currently 9th in the Premier League on 27 points after 22 games.
