Robin van Persie has scored more league goals than every Manchester United player

Van Persie

Robin van Persie created quite a buzz when he joined Fenerbahce on a three-year deal from Manchester United.

The Dutch star did not get off to the best start in Turkey and has already had a few spats with head coach Vitor Pereira for not receiving as much playing time as he would have liked but he is starting to get back into the swing of things and already has more league goals than all his former teammates.

Van Persie has scored eight league goals compared to top United scorer in the league Wayne Rooney who has found the back of the net eight times.

The Netherlands international record is even better if you consider he has played just 910 minutes of Super League football compared to Rooney who has clocked up 1814 minutes.

Rooney averages a goal evert 259 minutes in the league compared the Van Persie who has nets on average every 114 minutes.

Former United star and football pundit Rio Ferdinand revealed that he believes his former side made a big mistake selling Van Persie and Chicharito over the summer.

“The likes of Robin van Persie guarantee you 15 goals a season,” Ferdinand said speaking on BT Sport 1 after the goalless draw between Manchester United and Chelsea.

Do you think United were right to get rid of Van Persie?
