Samed Yesil provides ‘welcome boost’ for Liverpool attack says U21 boss
Liverpool youth Samed Yeşil

Liverpool U21 head coach Michael Beale has stated that Samed Yeşil provides his side with more attacking options.

Yeşil ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in a year in January 2014 and has only recently recovered.

The 20-year-old made a brief appearance in the 2-1 loss against Fulham U21’s last week and is expected to feature against Leicester City U21 this evening.

“It’s great for us to have Harry back from suspension and in our last game we had Ryan Kent and Samed Yesil getting some minutes which is a welcome boost for our attacking options,” Beale told the official Liverpool website.

The 20-year-old striker was highly rated before his arrival in England but he has struggled with injury problems.

Yeşil joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen as did his teammate Emre Can.

The young striker was born in Germany and is of Turkish heritage like fellow former Bayer Leverkusen player Emre Can.

Both players are part of the Turkish community in Germany estimated to be in the region of 3-4 million.

Yeşil has one goal and one assist in six U-21 games for the Reds this season.
