Turkish-Football reported yesterday that Badou Ndiaye had taken a step closer to completing his move to Stoke City after being spotted leaving the Florya training camp at midnight.
Ndiaye was removed from the squad set to face Osmanlispor today.
The Senegal international would have been likely to start under normal circumstances.
Galatasaray gave the Potters another major transfer boost today after confirming receiving an offer for the powerful midfielder.
The club released the following official statement: “Badou Ndiaye has received offers from clubs overseas. Badou has been removed from the squad set to face Osmanlispor as he is currently distracted from him on field duties by the transfer talks.”
The Lions did not however, state they have received bids from more than one club.
The Daily Mail have reported that Newcastle United, Watford and Crystal Palace are also interested in the 27-year-old.
Turkish sports newspaper Fotomac claim Stoke City have made a €16 million bid for the midfielder.
The Istanbul would make a tidy profit if they accept Potters offer as they signed Ndiaye for just €7.5 million six months ago.
Ndiaye has made no secret of the fact he wants to play Premier League football but Galatasaray would prefer to sell him at the end of the season.
Galatasaray are involved in the title race and are currently just one point behind leaders Basaksehir.
Losing a key player at this stage of the campaign without a replacement could hamper efforts to become champions.
The midfielder has one goal and three assists in 17 appearances for the Lions in all competitions this season.
Ndiaye would have faced his former side Osmanlispor had he made the matchday squad today.
