Besiktas failed to sign Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina due to the Turkish Lira crisis according to Turkish Radio and Television (TRT) football chief Firat Gunayer.
The Black Eagles had been closely linked with the Colombian international over the summer transfer window.
In fact, the Super Lig giants had agreed personal terms with Ospina but the problem was coming to an agreement with Arsenal over a buyout clause.
Gunayer revealed that the value of the Turkish Lira to the Euro rose to 5.5 during negotiations.

Ospina ended up completing a loan move to Napoli today with the Italian club having the option to buy the keeper from Arsenal on a permanent basis according to The Guardian.
The 29-year-old keeper fell down the pecking order to third choice following the signing of Bernd Leno.
The Serie A outfit signed Ospina as cover for first-choice keeper Alex Meret who broke his arm in training last month.
