“Winning the odd game by a high scoreline is not important, we want consistency and our goal is still to stay in the Süper Lig,” Çalımbay told Turkish-football.com reporters after the game.

Mersin won their second consecutive game following the victory and took their goal tally over the last two league games to 10.

The Mediterranean based side have scored the highest number of goals in the league over the last two games.

Mersin also ended an eight game winless streak on the road following the Rizespor win.

Çalımbay’s side host league strugglers Karabükspor at home next week. Mersin are unbeaten in their last nine home games, winning six games and drawing just twice.
