‘They can still grab a top-four finish’ – Jamie Redknapp gives Arsenal v Man United prediction

The Gunners take on fifth-placed Manchester United today in the Premier League at the Emirates.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Redknapp said: “Despite the negative feeling around the club, there’s still a lot to play for at Arsenal. They can still grab a top-four finish but they also have to stay focused on the FA Cup final.”

Redknapp went onto write that he believes Arsenal will end up beating United and ending the visitors unbeaten run.

The Red Devils are currently on a 25 game unbeaten streak in the Premier League.

I think Arsenal will come out on top,” he added.

“I can see lots of goals going in but if the home side turn up ready for a battle and ready to deliver on the big stage, they have the ability to come out on top and end United’s long unbeaten run.”

Even if Arsenal do beat United today they will not overtake their rivals.

The Gunners are currently five points behind the visitors but do have a game in hand.

The battle for a top-four place is still open to both sides but United had the added advantage of still being in the Europa League.

United would be able to book a place in the Champions League next season if they win the Europa League – even if they finish outside the top-four.

Redknapp also commented on Mesut Ozil, revealing that while he is one of the ‘most talented players in the league’, he has to has to get himself more motivated.

The Germany international of Turkish origin has been criticised for his form at times this season especially in big games.

Ozil will start today against the Red Devils.

“I’ve always been a big fan of Ozil and there’s no doubt he’s one of the most talented players in the league. But when he’s not on it, there’s a fine line between looking like a great player and someone who looks like they couldn’t care less,” he said.

“He looks unhappy and when he’s not playing well, because of his disposition, because of how languid he is, it accentuates it even more.

“There are obviously factors behind his frustration – from his contract situation to playing in a struggling team – and that’s having a knock-on effect on his performance but, like his team-mates, he needs to get himself motivated for an important end to the season.”
