Mesut Ozil has stated that coming third is the “minimum target” for the remainder of the season.
The 27-year-old’d future at Arsenal has been cast in doubt following a poor end to the campaign.
While talking with the German outlet Sport-Informations-Dienst, Ozil maintained that a third-placed finish is the “minimum target” for the campaign.
“This season it was possible to become champions. But for that we have lost too many points against small teams.”
Ozil has two years remaining on his current deal with the Gunners and is in no hurry to sign an extension.
The Germany international is Arsenal’s most expensive signing however, following a disappointing end to the season Ozil is seeking assurances that the squad will be strengthened in the summer.
Ozil has provided the highest number of assists in the Premier League this season (18).
